Rebel Rescue South Korea was founded in Asan, South Korea. We started as a small group of volunteer military spouses that helped at Asan Cheonsawon Shelter. RRSK worked hard there to help adopt out about 200 dogs and provide veterinary care and love to dogs that had so little. Since then, ACS has closed, but the mission of RRSK remains - to change the lives of dogs in South Korea.
We have changed locations and work on a smaller scale now with about 50 dogs in our care at any given time. Volunteers provide the dogs with clean kennels, food, water, blankets, and walks daily. We are still primarily a group of U.S. military spouses, but we also now have a group of expats that want to make a difference and an amazing Korean volunteer team that helps us tremendously with navigating the challenges that come with rescue work in a foreign country. We rescue dogs (and cats!) primarily from kill shelters, hoarding situations, meat farms, and the streets. Many of our rescues come with some type of trauma and need help working through that to trust people. Our goal is to find each dog or cat a loving, forever home!
Robin founded Rebel Rescue South Korea Inc in January 2021 after finding her passion while volunteering with a group of fellow military spouses, saving abandoned and mistreated dogs in Korea. She has six dogs of her own, five from Korea. She also has a soft spot for senior dogs and hopes to expand RRSK's reach to help even more dogs!
A firm believer in all dogs and cats deserve a loving home, Kristy gives her best to facilitate connections between potential adopters and fosters and their furry counterparts. Kristy has been an RRSK shelter volunteer and foster mom since before the organization was officially founded. She absolutely loves the dogs of Korea and is a crazy dog mom!
Kiana moved to Korea in 2018 and already had adopted her dog, Haengun, before she landed. Ever since she was young, she's wanted to work with animals and has always had a soft spot for dogs. She is currently a kindergarten teacher during the week, volunteering at RRSK on the weekends and furthering her education to be able to continue to work with animals.
Perla found her way to South Korea in January 2020 - following her husband to his duty station. She began volunteering two weeks after her arrival and has been actively supporting RRSK prior to becoming the organization it is today. Her passion for helping animals grew deeper after volunteering and spending time with Korean dogs that were abandoned and lacked love and affection. She currently resides in Texas with her husband and two dogs, one of which was saved from a horrible situation by RRSK. Her hope is that RRSK can grow into a larger organization and continue to help animals in need.
