👣 Where All Volunteers Begin

All volunteers start as on-site shelter volunteers. We host orientations on select Saturdays and Sundays, beginning at 9:30am. This is a vital first step in:

Building relationships with the animals in our care
Learning our daily protocols and standards
Connecting with fellow volunteers and staff
Gaining experience before taking on other volunteer roles with RRSK

🧼 What You'll Be Doing On-Site

As an on-site volunteer, you’ll help with a range of daily tasks, including:

🧽 Kennel cleaning and sanitization
🍽️ Feeding and watering the dogs and cats
🐕 Dog walking and cat socialization
🛠️ Shelter improvement or construction projects

Please be aware: Our shelter is located in Pyeongtaek and can take over 2 hours from central Seoul via public transportation. We encourage volunteers to plan for a full-day commitment.

✅ What We Expect from Volunteers

To ensure RRSK runs smoothly and our animals receive consistent care, we ask all volunteers to meet the following requirements:

📆 Time Commitment

Donate 4 hours per week on-site (equivalent to one shift).
All shifts must be scheduled in advance using our designated system.

🧍‍♀️ Physical & Behavioral Expectations

Be able to stand/walk for 2+ hours, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform routine shelter tasks.
Follow all safety procedures and shelter rules.
Maintain a positive attitude, even in emotionally demanding situations.
Communicate respectfully with staff, fellow volunteers, and the public.

🐕 Animal Handling & Learning

Be open to learning about canine behavior and body language.
Listen to guidance on safe and appropriate interactions with animals.

💼 Additional Notes

Volunteers must cover their own transportation and personal expenses.
Volunteers must carry their own insurance. RRSK does not provide health, liability, or accident insurance for volunteers.
Repeated no-shows or uncommunicated absences may affect your eligibility to continue volunteering with RRSK.
